I always want to collect more animal postcards, especially owls. Here are two owl cards I received recently. The first is from Wesley in the Netherlands:
This is a Eurasian Eagle Owl, the largest owl species in the world. These owls have a wingspan of about 160–188 cm (63–74 in) and weigh between 4 and 9 pounds (2-4 kilograms). Wesley writes that he has seen one of these owls in person and even have it sit on his shoulder! Of course, this was not a completely wild owl, but one that was used to people. I am so jealous!
Wesley used a nice selection of new and interesting stamps:
After the Eurasian Eagle Owl I received this card from Louise in Hong Kong showing the collared scops owl (Otus bakkamoena) which is native to Hong Kong. They are common in the area and are even on the stamps!
Wonderful owls! Do you collect any bird postcards?
