On my Postcrossing profile I say that I collect cards showing royalty and royal families. People sending me cards have really taken that suggestion up; I have received three great cards of royals in the past few months:
First, here is a recent picture celebrating the new King of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander. Willem-Alexander became king on April 30, 2013, after Queen Beatrix abdicated. He is the first king of the Netherlands since 1890, when his great-great-grandfather King William III died.
Here is another postcard from another Dutch Postcrosser showing a very old view of the Dutch Royal family, from before Beatrix was Queen. The card shows Queen Juliana, her husband, and their four daughters. From left to right: Princess Christina (Marijke), Queen Juliana, Princess (later the Queen) Beatrix, Prince Bernhard, Princess Irene and Princess Margriet. And continuing our old views of royalty, this card from a Postcrosser in Germany shows a photo from 1960 of Queen Elizabeth II of England with Charles, Prince of Wales. The Prince was about 12 years old in this picture. Today is the 61st anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation, by the way.
That’s all the royalty I have for today! Thanks to the senders of these cards!
