Today I have two capital city postcards to show you. Both are from Baltic states and both are World Heritage cities!

First is the capital of Estonia, Tallinn. This card comes from Heidi through a private swap:

UNESCO Tallinn2

Tallinn is the oldest capital city in northern Europe. The area has been settled for 5,000 years, but wasn’t a city until 1248. It’s been on the UNESCO list since 1997.

Heidi used many beautiful stamps:

ESTONIA rabbityear

You may notice from the postmark that this card was sent almost a year ago. I am a little behind in posting some cards!

I also have a card showing Vilnius, Lithuania, another capital and UNESCO site:

Vilnius

This card came through Postcrossing. Unfortunately, the sender didn’t write any message on the back. Just the postcard ID! Perhaps they forgot and put it in the mail anyway. Vilnius has been the capital since 1323 and has been on the UNESCO list since 1994. The sender used an interesting stamp with art by Arturas Slapšys:

LITHUANIA trees

I need a postcard of Riga to complete the Baltic states theme, but I have only received one card from Latvia before and it was not of Riga. Oh well, there’s still lots of time for more postcard collecting!
