I started swapping with Vicky in Russia at the beginning of the year, but for some reason I have not yet posted this lovely bridge card that I received back in January.
This is a railway bridge over the river Don in the city of Rostov-on-Don, in the Rostov Oblast. This bridge reminds me of the Hawthorne Bridge here in Portland, as they are both vertical lift bridges. Rostov-on-Don is a port city on the Sea of Azov, which connects to the Black Sea. Since it is so important as a shipping port, the big ship stamp on this card is very appropriate:
There’s also a nice insect (a carabus constricticollis, which is a type of beetle) and a stamp from 2007 showing the Rostov Oblast. Thanks so much for the card, Vicky!
