Another day, another UNESCO site from Ai in Japan. This one is the Nikko Toshogu Shrine in Nikko, Japan, part of the ‘Shrines and Temples of Nikko’ site.
This is the Yoomei-Mon Gate to the temple. Ai writes that the shrine is well known for its wood carvings of animals, including ‘nemuri-neko, sleeping cat’ and ‘san-zaru, three wise monkeys.’
The stamps don’t match this card, but they are interesting nonetheless:
Tomorrow I will share one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara.
