Every postcard collector seems to have several specific themes they are trying to collect. I have state maps, various animals, and now I’m thinking of expanding into collecting tall buildings. Here I have two of the top ten:
The Petronas twin towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was sent by ebreah. They are his favorite place in the city because the shopping mall has a really great bookstore. The towers stand 452 meters high, with a skybridge connecting them at the 41st floor. The towers were the tallest building in the world from 1998 until 2004, when they were surpassed by…
Taipei 101, in Taipei, Taiwan! Taipei 101 stands 101 floors, or 509 meters high. This card comes from Ellen. Taipei 101 was the tallest building in the world until 2010, when the Burj Khalifa was opened. It’s now the 3rd tallest building; the Petronas Towers are the 6th tallest.
The only problem with collecting the tallest buildings is that new buildings are being built all the time, and they keep getting taller! As they get taller it gets harder and harder to get a good picture of them for a postcard.
Well, let’s forget about that for now and look at this stamp from Taiwan:
