The Temple of Heaven is a Taoist temple in Beijing, China. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1998, and one of the sites represented in my postcard collection since this week. This card comes from melowalk:

The Temple was constructed in the 15th century by the Yongle Emperor. It was used for imperial ceremonies that prayed for good harvests.

I have no idea what the stamps are all about, although the smiley faced one says it is commemorating the 26th Summer Universiade, which is like the Olympics for university athletes.

I have many more UNESCO sites to share today, and my first tentative UNESCO site, too!
