Another country to tick off the list: the Philippines! This neat card comes from smurfrevolt on the Postcrossing forum:
The boats shown are called vintas and they are a traditional boat in the Philippines. The back of the card says that the vertical colors of the sails represent the “colorful culture and history of the Muslim community.”
The stamps celebrate the 150th “birth anniversary” of Jose Rizal, a national hero. He was an important patriot and political figure who advocated for Philippine independence from the Spanish. Also, he could speak 22 languages!
