Today’s just the day for UNESCO sites! Here is a beautiful card showing the Wulingyuan Scenic Area in Hunan Province, China:
The text says that the Wulingyuan site is famous for its “marvelous peaks, grotesque rocks, tranquil valleys, beautiful water and magical karst caves.” Karst formations are caused by the dissolution of layers of rock and cause the tall rock pillars that you can see in the card. Some of those pillars are over 800 meters tall! I would love to go see that in person.
