Here are four cards showing animals that I have recently received through Postcrossing. As a bonus, there are animals on the stamps, too!

First, there is this card from Russia, which shows the seals at Lake Baikal:

These seals are only found around the lake and nowhere else in the world.

This card comes from China and shows a really cute cat. The sender also drew a little winking Moomin on the back:

The next two cards are from Taiwan.

These cute rabbit noses came with a newly released stamp that is not cute at all:

This is an anglerfish, part of a series of fish stamps.

This card showing sheep comes from user hairpinmeg, who has an online museum of her antique hairpins. Some of them are very beautiful and unusual.

The stamps show some flowers and a cute Labrador retriever:

Happiness-Inducing cards from Postcrossing

This week I got lots of great things in the mail. I got two fantastic cards from Postcrossing, two of my favorites so far, and I got an acceptance letter to my first-choice law school! All on the same day! It was a Very Good Day.

First, I want to show you this adorable Asian elephant postcard from the Netherlands:

This is Bangka and her daughter Faya, two elephants in the Rotterdam Zoo. Faya looks so little, but even a baby elephant weighs over 100 kilograms- more than most people! This pair of elephants reminds me of the new pair of elephants we have at the Oregon Zoo here in Portland. Rose-Tu gave birth to a baby named Lily last November. I haven’t been to see them yet but I plan to make a trip soon!

The stamp used on this card is great, too:

This stamp shows Princess Ariane of the Netherlands. I hope it isn’t disrespectful to say that the princess is very cute!

The second fantastic Postcrossing card is my first card from Korea!

This card shows a cartoon of a traditional Korean wedding. The stamp shows a neat shell and the Korean flag:

Jetoy cat and Suzhou

Sometimes I get behind in posting cards. It’s not because I don’t appreciate them and enjoy having them in my collection, but I do sometimes think it hard to find something to write about them. So perhaps I just won’t say much about these cards. They’re both from Postcrossing users.

This first one came all the way back in April:

 

It comes from Jimmy in China and shows a stylized view of Pinjiang Road in Suzhou.

Then in August I received this Jetoy cat card from Ling in Taiwan:

 

Ling used her card to tell me about the fruits in Taiwan. Apparently guava is a popular fruit when dieting. I do not think I have ever had a guava. Here in the United States, grapefruit is a typical diet fruit, although if Americans ate more fruit in general, we might not need to diet so much.

Ling used some stamps that are new to me; one shows a dog and the other a beetle:

Wouldn’t these be just adorable framed in a baby’s nursery? I am soooo far from even thinking about having a nursery, but they are just so darling!

Hello Kitty

I love Hello Kitty and her boyfriend, Dear Daniel. When I visited Japan several years ago, I was very happy to be surrounded by Hello Kitty things: stationery, stickers, I even brought pack a packet of spices that has her cute little face on them! Now I wish that I had brought back more Hello Kitty things to share, since many others love them, too. But instead, I have new postcrossing friends in Japan to send me Hello Kitty cards:

This card comes from a private trade with dekopon. I love the cute kitties in their kimonos!

This 3D card was an official Postcrossing card. Hello Kitty is sitting in a bowl of anmitsu, a traditional Japanese sweet. This is the first 3D card I’ve received; they’re pretty neat but it’s hard to scan them and show the effect.

Japan even puts Hello Kitty on their stamps:

There has been sad lack of mail in my box the last few days; I guess that the postal service knows that I need to catch up on blogging about the mail I’ve already received! These three cards came from Deirdre in the Netherlands while I was on break.Alarmed at my lack of Dutch postcards showing clogs, Deirdre sent not only a card showing lots of clogs, but also a card shaped like a clog! And it has a windmill on it! Too cute!

And now I have all the Postcrossing stamps, because Deirdre used the last stamp that I was missing on one of the cards:

And that’s not all for the stamps. On the Bonne Annee (Happy New Year) card she used these very pretty December stamps:

I really love the bird in the lower right. These are some beautiful stamps!

Something quick and sweet for this Tuesday morning:

Spottie Dottie comes from PinkZombie in Florida, from a swap-bot swap. She writes about her two dogs, Chaos and Moose (cute names). I miss my two dogs; luckily it is less than two weeks until I can be with them!
