This little card is my first card from India, and it comes from Col Akhil via Walltype.
There is not much description on the card, but it does say that it shows that Goddess Chamundeswari. Chamundeswari is the tutelary deity of the Mysore. The card was sent from Bangalore with some stamps showing Indira and Rajiv Gandhi:
Tomorrow’s country is the Philippines, and I have three cards from there to share!

This Roger Dean card comes from my “neighbor” Reggie, via Walltype:
As she points out, though, we were not neighbors when she sent this card, because I was still in Pennsylvania during my winter break. I think that it is funny that we are neighbors, since we have never actually met in real life.
The card shows a Roger Dean work entitled Wizards and Demons.

Two new places for my European World Heritage list, both in France:
The card of the Pont du Gard comes from vykortsfantast. The Pont du Gard is a Roman aqueduct built during the reign of Agrippa, and was made a UNESCO site in 1985. It was built to carry water across a river, which seems a little silly when I think about it. It’s a bridge to carry water over water.
The second card comes from Jean Michel via Walltype and shows the buildings of Lyons. This town was founded by the Romans (who were a very busy civilization) and inscribed on the UNESCO list in 1998. It is hard to say what specific buildings are represented here because the back of the card only invites us to “discover the treasures of old Lyons” but I believe that the upper left picture shows the “House of Crible/ Rose Tower” in the foreground. If you can identify the sites, please let me know in the comments!

I’ve been receiving a lot of cards featuring animals lately. I love animals, so this is great!
First is this official Postcrossing card from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I did not know that the Upper Peninsula is home to a “sizable” moose population. But this postcard says so, so it must be true!
Here’s another unusual animal, the jackalope! Rarely seen in the wild, this elusive creature is apparently native to Texas. This card comes from Darla via Walltype.
Finally there is this card, from a private swap with a Postcrosser in Washington state. It shows a bobkitten, a fawn, and a baby fox! So much cuteness! Do you have any animals in your mailbox today (if you do, let them out! Unless they’re on a postcard, of course)

I originally started postcard swapping to meet people from all over the world, but it seems like I just keep making friends with people from Portland and the Northwest! Maybe it’s because we can all commiserate about the weather. Whatever it is, I now know many people in Portland through postcard swapping, and this card comes from one of them, Walltype user Reggie:
I don’t know if I would call myself an Edward Gorey fan, but I do really like his illustrations. The stamps on this card were awesome:

I’ve been sending so many cards that I’m running low on stamps. I sent a card for a swap-bot swap and a Walltype card today:
This card was sent for the swap-bot ‘Postcards with Awesome Stamps’ swap. I paired the pretty garden card with a Georgia O’Keefe flower stamp. I think they complement each other well. The painting is called The Morning Rose and was painted by Daniel Ridgeway Knight in 1893.
This card is going to a Walltype user in Florida. it shows the 1915 Pan-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco.
I’m also sending a surprise postcard to a friend, who has sent me many cards through swap-bot, but whose address I have never pulled to send back! I don’t want to give away the surprise, though, so I’ll leave it at that.

Yesterday I posted about a new-to-me postcard swapping site called Walltype. I’ve received four cards from users on the site and I’d like to share them:
This first one comes from the Czech Republic. The photographs are of the sender’s home town, and they’re her photographs!
This card, from California, is also a photograph taken by the sender. Walltypers are a creative bunch it seems!
This Josh Agle postcard comes all the way from Portland, OR.
And this Texas map card (my second) comes from Houston.
I’m pretty pleased with Walltype so far, so I’ll definitely be signing up to send more postcards (and therefore receive!)
